How Local Businesses could have been affected
if the original Gateway Scheme had gone ahead
The fundamental flaws in the original proposed Gateway scheme would have
had a detrimental effect on the trade of our local shops on The Pavement.
The double bus stop on The Pavement in front of some shops, the loss of parking and the traffic bottleneck would
all have adversely affected the shops trade and character.
CONSEQUENCES if the original Gateway scheme had gone ahead
- The double bus stop in front of the shops would have greatly reduced the shops visibility and produce unwanted noise and pollution.
- The bottleneck by Bromell's road will produce a dreadful traffic jam at peak hours leading to intolerable noise and pollution.
- The loss of over 300 metres of parking in the evenings and weekends would
have reduced the number of shoppers.
